The Reflection

Lena always felt uneasy about the old mirror in her grandmother’s attic. It was large, ornate, and its glass seemed to shimmer unnaturally in the dim light. Whenever she looked at it, she swore her reflection moved just a fraction of a second too late. But she brushed it off as her imagination.

One stormy evening, a loud thunderclap rattled the house, and the attic door creaked open. Curiosity got the better of Lena, and she found herself standing before the mirror again. This time, her reflection didn’t match her movements. When she tilted her head, it smiled instead.

A chill ran down her spine. She stepped back, but her reflection stayed in place, staring at her with wide, unblinking eyes. Then, it raised its hand and pointed behind her.

Terrified, Lena whipped around to see nothing but the dark, empty attic. When she turned back to the mirror, her reflection was gone.

A whisper came from behind her: “You’re mine now.”

The next morning, her parents found the attic empty, except for the mirror. The glass was foggy, but if you looked closely, you could see Lena’s face pressed against it from the inside, screaming silently.
